It’s a small world!

The CCB can claim links to all three winners of the 2015 Nobel Prize in Chemistry. PI Bob Lahue was a postdoctoral fellow in the lab of laureate Paul Modrich at Duke University. One of the Lahue-Modrich publications was cited as ‘groundbreaking’ by the Swedish Academy of Sciences. CCB researcher Elaine Lahue earned her PhD at the University of North Carolina, where new laureate Aziz Sancar served on her graduate research committee. PI’s Noel Lowndes and Corrado Santocanale were colleagues at Clare Hall Labs with laureate Tomas Lindahl during his tenure as Scientific Director. Noel credits Tomas’s mentorship during his early years as a PI at Clare Hall as essential for the development of his subsequent career. Tomas was also a member of the organizing committee for the 2004 conference on Mechanisms of Genomic Integrity, held in Galway at the inception of the CCB. Our heartiest congratulations to Paul, Aziz and Tomas!
